Fisher-Price Wood Montessori Object Permanence Box Learning Activity

Four wooden shapes drop through cutouts in the top of this wooden box. Toddlers push each piece through its matching slot, then slide the side doors to peek inside. We make this with wood from Forest Stewardship Council-certified sources and finish it with water-based paints.

• Four sorting shapes. The set includes four wooden shapes and one box. Hands grip each piece, match it to the cutout on top, and push it through the hole until it drops out of sight.
• Sliding peekaboo doors. Two sliding doors sit on the sides of the box. Children slide them back and forth to uncover where the fallen blocks went, practicing the idea that hidden things remain.
• Play lab guidance. A play tip card comes in the box with guidance from our Play Lab. The ideas show how to guide shape matching and peekaboo games during everyday floor play.
• Wooden materials. We build this box using wood from Forest Stewardship Council-certified sources under license FSC-N004566. Sturdy water-based paints cover the surfaces of the shapes and box.
